The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure.
This year the theme is Ready, Set, Read which is presented by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with libraries.
The Summer Reading Challenge launches on Saturday 8 July and runs until Saturday 9 September.
There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:
1. You can join the Challenge at your local library and take part in person. The library will give you a special collector folder, stickers, and other special incentives, and help you find books to read for your Challenge.
2. Alternatively, take part in the Challenge online by signing up here. Set a reading goal and log your books on your profile. When you reach your goal you will unlock a virtual badge and certificate.
Please note, the in-person and online Challenges are separate. Physical incentives like medals and certificates are only available via the library, for those taking part in the in-person Challenge.
Children can sign up at their local library to read six books this summer as part of the Summer Reading Challenge 2023, themed around the power of play, sport, games and physical activity.
Those who finish the challenge will receive a medal, a certificate and have a chance at winning one of many prizes
