On Thursday 4 March from 7 – 8pm, archaeologist Tom Addeyman will be running a free zoom presentation about archaeological discoveries made at Canons House and the surrounding estate.

As many of you will know, this site is one of Merton’s heritage treasures and has a lengthy history dating back to the Norman conquest and Medieval era. Built c.1680 Canons House was associated with the wealthy Cranmer and Simpson families for over 250 years, in addition to a range of City businessmen, diplomats and bankers. The property also served as a Civil Defence outpost during World War II. Given this colourful history, it will be fascinating to see what Tom and his team have unearthed about the Canons site.
