The Friends is an apolitical group, interested only in promoting and supporting West Barnes Library. It is not linked to any political body. 

We started in 2011 when it looked as though West Barnes Library was going to be closed following Council cuts. A group of people got together to save the library by working as volunteers so that the Library could remain open for 5 days. 

The Friends after intensive training opened and ran the library on a Monday. What a success, the library is still open and one day is going to be rebuilt and updated. Volunteers are still involved not just on Mondays but all days, come along and see.
